General Infomation and FAQs
What is the brew temperature setting for Low, Medium and High?
The ideal water temperature for brewing espresso is between 87–96°C.
Your KitchenAid Fully automatic espresso machine has 3 temperature levels (Low-Medium-High) which are all within this optimal range. You can adjust as you like, tuning the temperature slightly up or down (+/- 2°C to 5°C) to get the best taste, depending on factors like grind size, dose, roast and freshness of the coffee beans.
What type of heating element is inside the unit and what is it made of?
The machine has a thermoblock one-piece unit. It has a heating element embedded in metal that runs alongside a water pipe flash heating the water.
Why is the removable bean hopper important?
The KitchenAid Fully automatic espresso machines are designed to encourage exploration!
We make it simple for you to change beans and try out different roasts and coffees. Beans are ground in the machine, but you also have the option to pour pre-ground coffee directly into the shaft if you have some you’d like to try.
What does it mean that this machine has an alternative milk cycle?
The KitchenAid Fully automatic espresso machine KF8 has a unique plant-based mode.
This cycle is programmed to understand the differences between plant based alternatives and traditional dairy milk. It adjusts the amount of air and steam for the different fat and protein contents to provide a creamy, stable foam.
Why is this needed? Because plant-based drinks typically have less fat and protein than dairy milk and therefore, more air is needed at the start of the steaming process to produce a stable foam. KitchenAid’s unique plant based option has the ability to product microfoam from common alternatives like Oat, Almond, Soy and Coconut. Be sure to select plant-based mode when you make it.
What type of pump does the machine use?
The 15-bar pump provides the optimal pressure needed to pull an authentic, full-bodied espresso shot.
When pulling a shot, the pump has a low pressure Pre-Infusion which slowly and steadily adds water to the coffee, allowing the grounds to expand before carrying out high-pressure extraction.
The correct pressure is the key to creating exceptional shots of espresso. Fifteen bars of pressure in residential machines helps to create that much-desired crema, maintains a consistent temperature for every shot, and allows you to use the espresso machine continuously without needing to cool it down between shots.
